Are you looking for personal dental insurance coverage?  If so here are some things you will want to know about.  Your main goal is obviously to save money, and with dental coverage being so expensive and dental work being even more expensive it is important to get any information on how to save as much as possible.

1.  Forget about getting dental insurance and take a look at a discount dental plan.

You may be used to thinking that you had to have insurance to save money with dental work but about 15 years ago dental plans came on the scene.  Still, not everyone knows about these plans, but here is how they work.

Rather than paying a premium every month, with these discount dental plans you only have to pay an annual fee of anywhere from $79 to $120.  You will then receive steep discounts on all kinds of dental work that even personal dental insurance will not cover, like braces, crowns, x-rays, wisdom teeth extractions and teeth whitening. (just to name a few)

2.  Find a dentists in your area that accepts dental discount plans.

Since you may be new to the whole dental plan scene you may think that the dentists that take these plans are few and far between, but there are actually more than 100,000 dentists in the United States that are involved in these programs and are ready to receive your business for those discounted prices.

Usually all you have to do is type your zip code in a box and let the online database show you what dentists near you can give you some cheap dental work with these individual and family dental plans.

3.  Choose a personal or family dental plan that is right for you.

You can choose through many of the different plans to find out which one is right for you.  These plans include Aetna Dental Access, Signature Wellness Plan, Preferred Network Access, and Vital Savings by Aetna, and there are many more.  In fact, there are more than 30 of these plans and many of them offer vision plans and chiropractor plans as well as dental, so it’s a great deal all around.
