It seems like everything about getting dental work done costs a lot of money. When I was younger my biggest concern in going to the dentists was the pain I would feel in the chair, but now that I am older my biggest worry is the pain I am going to feel in the wallet. But one thing I have learned is that there is never a good excuse to avoid going to the dentist. It will just cost you more in the long run and cause other health problems if you neglect your oral health.

So one question on my mind was how much was the bridge work that I needed going to cost me. I did not have any dental insurance, but even if I did it would not have helped much at all. Most people don’t realize how little dental insurance will actually cover, and that’s why I decided not to have any. A regular dental insurance policy will not cover you for things like orthodontics, braces, teeth whitening, and yes, even bridge work.

So I looked around and found some dental plans that I could use which would save me at least a little bit of money on the dental procedures I needed. On average, having a tooth replaced that is part of a bridge would cost over $800. But with the dental plan that I signed up with (which only cost me about $100 a year) I was able to recoop all of my investment and save over $250 dollars. Sure, it was still expensive, but at least it was less expensive.

Also, the great thing about these discount dental plans is that there are no health requirements before signing up and there are no annual maximums, so it was a smart choice for me and may be a smart choice for you as well.
